August: Water & Walking
Posted by lucy_gerston at 02:20 PM on August 28, 2005.

This month can be summarized by two major activities for Lucy: lots of time in the water, and lots of time on her feet. We swam in lakes, dipped our toes in streams, bobbed in lagoons, and splashed in pools and tubs. Also, Lucy began to walk on her own in the final week of August. She'd been teasing us with a few steps here and there for weeks, but now she can get up and go when she wants to. This motivation may come from the fact that she has begun day care, and everyone else there walks...Lucy will not be left behind! Speaking of day care, she loves it (her parents aren't thrilled with leaving her there, though).
Our big trip this month was to Minnesota, to Gappo and Gammo's cabin at Encampment on the north shore of Lake Superior. She (and we) had a ball. The other big event of the month was her uncle Chris getting married to the lovely Erica. Lucy dressed up and joined her dad as one of the "groomsmen".
Finally, Lucy's vocabulary is growing daily, and she tries to say everything that comes out of her parent's mouths. Time to clean up our language.
